Welcome to the 2026 Digital Archive, a vital collection of insights from the Resonance & Roots initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Here, we present survey responses and stories that illuminate the experiences of our immigrant and BIPOC communities, striving for a more equitable and inclusive campus.
We warmly invite community members to contribute stories detailing all aspects of their lives—including how your culture or family honors older generations, navigates critical medical illnesses, processes intergenerational grief, and practices sacred end-of-life or ancestral traditions.

Student Caregiver Realities
Many college students, especially non-traditional students or those from tight-knit immigrant families, act as primary caregivers or translators for aging relatives. We tracked how many members of our UWSP campus community carry this profound responsibility alongside their education.(research results here)
Barriers in Navigation & End- of-Life Care
We asked participants who have navigated healthcare, elder care, chronic illness, or end-of-life care (such as hospice or palliative care) for a loved one to identify the specific systemic and cultural barriers they encountered.(research results here)
Perceived University Support During Family Crises
We evaluated how supported students and staff feel by UWSP's institutional structures (such as instructor understanding, clear bereavement leave policies, or campus counseling services) when navigating critical life events.

We asked community members what they wish healthcare providers, hospice agencies, or community organizations in Central Wisconsin better understood about their specific background. Additionally, we explored how closely the comfort-focused model of hospice aligns with different cultural values.
